I hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving.  We spent Thursday with Sailor’s family and Friday with my family. Notice how the little boy is shooting the girl?  My violent children came up with that one.   I ate lots of turkey and pie and now I’m eating lots of greens to make up for it.  And apples.  I can’t stop eating apples.

Last month Persistence and I did an apple juice cleanse where we drank nothing but fresh apple juice for three days and in the evenings when we were starving and wanted to eat something we ate apples.  I thought I would be sick of apples by the end of it and never want to look at another one but the exact opposite happened.  I can’t stop eating and thinking about apples!  If I even smell someone eating one I have to have one too.  Even my one year old baby, Patience, loves them.  I’ve never had a one year old that will sit and eat an entire whole apple before.  And then when she’s done with one she will sneak into the apples and take bites out of as many others as she can get her little paws on.

I have so many plans for my house but they all start with me painting my studio.  I tried to pick out a color two months ago but gave up.  Last week after being sick I was determined to make this happen so I drove to town Thanksgiving Eve, in my weakened condition, to buy a can a paint.  I finally choose a color, had a sample of it mixed, painted it on a card, yep, I liked it, bought a gallon of it and drove home.  Not before stopping at the grocery store for some last minute Thanksgiving items though where someone looked into our cart full of vegetables as we passed and said, “Yuck!!”  How nice is that?  I’m still laughing about it.

I decided today would be the day that my studio got painted.  Then I proceeded to sleep in as long as possible, spend all morning ordering books (Christmas presents) on the internet, cleaned the house, read a book, read to the kids, and then some time about 4:00 I started washing my studio walls and getting them ready to paint.  Can you tell I wasn’t excited about it?  Finally I was ready to go and after my first stroke I realized there was something funny about the paint color.  It was not the same color as the sample.  It was most definitely not the color that I asked for.  It was not going on my walls.

I spent the rest of the evening reading to the kids and then listening to them play their Christmas Music on the piano.  I seriously love that music.  Seriously.

No wonder projects take so long for me to finish.  Is it this painful for the rest of you?  I hope not but I might feel a little bit better if it was.

I taught Persistence how to curl hair and now she makes Lovely sit and get her hair styled every morning.  It looks so pretty and I don’t have to do it myself.  Love that!  Persistence can’t wait till Patience has enough hair to curl.  She’s going to have a long wait.  My babies take their own sweet time growing hair.

I won’t have time to paint tomorrow but I will be driving to town to get new paint.  Do you think Home Depot is going to fix this for me?  I’m worried they are going to give me a hard time.

I updated my reading page if you want to see what we’re reading these days.  I am so excited about the new books I ordered, I can hardly stand it.  As soon as the studio is done we’re working on the library.  I have to have a place to put all these books!

Now you want to know what I bought that was so much more important than painting right?  I ordered all the Ralph Moody books and all the Thyra Ferre Bjorn books I could find.  I have wanted them for a long time and I figured I could splurge for Christmas.

  1. I asked my kids if they thought it would be as fun as I do, to wake up Christmas morning and only have books under the Christmas tree (they didn’t agree very heartily). Those are the first presents I’ve ordered, and I have so many other great ideas for books I could order for everyone! It’s hard to choose!

I’ve got the first two of Moody’s and am with you on wanting the rest. Haven’t heard of Bjorn’s – tell me more!

  2. Remind me what camera you use. I am thinking about buying the Nikon D5000 this week, Or the Canon Rebel XTi. Can’t decide!

  3. Thanks Lara! I am so excited that I won. I will be emailing you my address!

  4. Lara…Are you expecting? The reason I ask is that some friends were commenting about how he couldn’t get enough of apples and he generally doesn’t eat them. Someone suggested he’s having the cravings and she was expecting. Little did they know they would be announcing about a week later that #6 was on the way.

Might want to look into it if it’s possible. ;)

  5. I have all the Moody books. So good. We love them over here. I haven’t heard of the other author, and I am very curious. Maybe I need to buy more books (you would never have to twist my arm for this!)
